Product Description

The skyBeacon from uAvionix is a TSO approved, LED wingtip position light with ADS-B Out UAT & Integrated WAAS GPS. With easy installation, configuration, and reduced down times, the skyBeacon provides an innovative and cost-effective, ADS-B Out, 2020 compliant solution without requiring any panel modifications or additional transponders.

The skyBeacon features a UAT (978 MHz) transmitter and specially designed blade antenna that minimizes installation errors and antenna placement issues. Built-in WAAS GPS provides rule-compliant position data for ADS-B transmission without additional wiring or external GPS antenna mounting. The skyBeacon’s power transcoder decodes replies from legacy Mode C transponders, so a new transponder is not required.

Additionally, the integrated altitude encoder does not require connection to the aircraft static pressure system; instead, skyBeacon benefits from being mounted in the ideal altitude sensing location and incorporates Continuous Calibration™ technology. This patent-pending technology automatically and continuously calibrates the integrated altitude encoder for correspondence with the aircraft transponder’s altitude encoder allowing for compliant operations in remote and challenging environments. An extremely efficient LED position and anti-collision lighting complete the skyBeacon package.

The skyBeacon integrated solution consists of a total of five (5) TSOs:

ADS-B (TSO-C154c, Class B1S)
GPS (TSO-C145d, Class Beta 1)
Barometric altitude sensor (TSO-C88b)
Position Light (TSO-C30c, Type I)
Anti-collision light (TSO-C96a, Class II)
