Today’s aircraft have many warning/advisory signals that need to be heard by the flight crew. Older audio systems are usually severely limited in the number of warning signals that can be supported...which can become a complicated and costly exercise when you need to comply with the new requirements for warning systems. The Model 3110 has been designed with the modern cockpit in mind, with 5 direct (unswitched) warning audio inputs. The new audio input design of the Model 3110 provides constant loading regardless of the number of radios selected on, preventing changes to the radio audio level heard by the pilots. Filtered connectors and fully floating inputs provide high crosstalk resistance and reduce noise. Each panel is fully self-contained with solid state modular plug-in construction, sealed switching devices for low noise and gold switch/relay contacts for long life and dependable operation. The 3XX Series of audio controllers,
acquired from dB Systems, offer some familiar and some not so familiar
looking audio controllers, with a variety of features designed
specifically for fixed-wing and helicopter applications. The use of
modern design and manufacturing technologies has allowed the 3XX Series
of audio controllers to be packed with features while reducing package
size and weight, which are always a concern in today’s modern
cockpits. The 3XX Series design provides flexibility to accommodate
custom front panel configurations and switch arrangements to meet
customer specific front panel requirements. The audio controllers are
also available with NVIS compliant lighting. One major
advantage of the 3XX Series, as compared to most other audio
controllers in the market today, is the Dynamic VOX noise reduction
system. This circuit is designed to eliminate acoustic background
noise by filtering the microphone signal as it enters the intercom
system. By contrast, noise-canceling headsets remove unwanted noise
that enters the ear cups of the headset, but do not cancel noise picked
up by the microphone. Most
of the 3XX Series audio controllers utilize differential (balanced)
audio inputs to eliminate the problems associated with multiple audio
grounds (ground loop noise). These inputs also reduce noise and
coupling between the audio inputs, resulting in a quieter audio system. All
3XX Series audio controllers are TSO’d, support multiple headsets, have
a CVR output, high output/low distortion headphone output(s), support
multiple receivers and transmitters, include bi-directional interphone
tie line(s), and have fail safe/emergency operating modes.
